Women of Wisdom of Acadiana is the sponsoring organizer for an upcoming Fentanyl Awareness Event. WOW is an organization of women gathered to bring awareness to important issues in the community. WOW says there is a need for greater public awareness of the extreme danger and availability of fentanyl among all ages and demographic groups in Acadiana and a rising number of overdoses attributable to fentanyl. LA Department of Health and the Lafayette Coroner's Office will be present to conduct a Q&A. Other officials will include first responders and the lead prosecutor for drug offenses in the 15th Judicial District Court from the Lafayette Parish District Attorney's Office.

The Fentanyl Awareness Event is on Wednesday, March 22, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Downtown Convention Center.
