Lafayette man fires gun in Taco Bell parking lot after fight with co-worker

Two Lafayette men face misdemeanor charges after a fight and the subsequent firing of a gun Tuesday night, according to the Lafayette Police Department.

Cpl.Paul Mouton said the incident happened around 11:15 p.m. when Terrel Alexander, 31, arrived at the Taco Bell on Kaliste Saloom Road (near the Grand 14 Theatre) and demanded money from his co-worker Barron K Broussard, 19.

Broussard, who was working at the time, exited the restaurant and allegedly got into a fight with Alexander.

Cpl. Mouton explained Alexander allegedly, “left the scene and later returned when Broussard removed a handgun from his vehicle and fired two shots in the air to scare Alexander.”

Broussard reportedly received minor injuries to the face as a result of the fight. Alexander was not injured.

Both men were issued misdemeanor summons and released; Alexander for Simple Battery and Broussard for Discharging a Firearm within the City of Lafayette.

Investigators believe the dispute was over money. Lafayette Police confiscated the pistol as evidence in the case.
