Scott PD: Suspects fell asleep at intersection, drugs found in vehicle

SCOTT, La. (KLFY)- Two men were arrested on drug charges after officers found them sleeping in a vehicle at about 3 a.m. this morning. 

While patrolling a subdivision in the 400 block of Le Violon Rd., Scott Police Department reportedly found a vehicle parked at an intersection with two occupants, Chief Chad Leger. 

When the officers approached, they observed the subjects sleeping. Officers woke the subjects and as they exited the vehicle, a strong smell of marijuana was detected by the officers, police said. 

During their investigation, officers were able to identify the occupants as Ross Degeytair, 22, of Lafayette, and Tyler Prejean, 21, of Lafayette.

Both subjects were detained and during a search of the vehicle, officers were able to locate five bags of edible THC, 13 grams of mushrooms, a total of 9oz of “Lean” in two baby bottles, 2 grams of marijuana, 2 Xanax pills, and additional drug paraphernalia.

Both subjects were taken to Lafayette Parish Correctional Center where they were booked for possession of Schedule 4, possession of Schedule 5, possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule 1 and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Degeytair was also found to have two open warrants for unrelated charges. No bond has been set for all charges at this time.
