Officers in Duson have rescued a teenager believed to be a victim of human trafficking.

Late Thursday night, they recovered a teenage boy who was listed as missing person, authorities said. Duson Police Chief Kip Judice said the boy was reported missing in late July after didn’t return to his home in University City, Missouri.

Judice says deputies from the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office were sent to a Duson hotel to investigate an alleged sexual assault.

The teen reportedly called 911 from the hotel saying that he was being kept against his will, Judice said.

Today, University City Police Department told News 10 that detectives are investigating this case and are seeking the FBI’s assistance.

Judice said the victim was scared but relieved to be safe at that point.

“The child was transported to a local medical facility where he was treated for scratches and what appear to be human bites, the child has been released and is awaiting for transportation back to Missouri to be reunited with his family,” Judice said.

At this point, no charges have been filed, but the case remains under investigation.
