Woman arrested in fatal Breaux Bridge stabbing

BREAUX BRIDGE, La. (KLFY) — UPDATE 7:58 p.m.: A Breaux Bridge woman has been arrested on a second-degree murder charge for a fatal stabbing that happened Friday morning in Breaux Bridge, according to the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Monifah Mitchell, 23, of Breaux Bridge, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. No bond has been set.

SMPSO deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call Friday morning at 9:45 a.m. in the 1000 block of Benoit Dr.

Upon arrival, deputies located a male victim, identified as Darius Tre Richmond, 24, of Breaux Bridge, suffering from a stab wound to the chest. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

ORIGINAL, 11:53 a.m.: St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s deputies have confirmed they are investigating a stabbing just outside of Breaux Bridge’s city limits on Benoit Rd.
