On Newsfeed Now for May 8 our first stop was in Alabama where a video by some students has gone viral. A third grade class at Birmingham’s Sun Valley Elementary took on the country hip-hop hit “Old Town Road” and made their own sensation. WIAT’s Jordan Highsmith joined us with details on how it came together.

16:00 – Louisiana churches help people avoid payday loan debt. A group of Shreveport churches started the program six years ago. KTAL’s Jacque Jovi told us more about the Hand Up loan program that has helped dozens of people secure more than $130,000 in lower interest rate loans.
