LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – A Breaux Bridge man identified as Tucker Huval is dead after a crash that shut down a portion of Willow Street in Lafayette for several hours.

Corporal Paul Mouton said the crash happened around 2:20 p.m. when a red Ford car collided with a motorcycle at the intersection of Willow Street and Staten Street.

The motorcyclist, who police have only described as a 34-year-old man from Breaux Bridge, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and passenger of the car were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

“The motorcycle was traveling east on West Willow Street when a red Ford vehicle traveling west on West Willow Street turned left into the path of the motorcycle.  The motorcycle crashed into the vehicle ejecting the rider,” Mouton said.

Lafayette Police shut down West Willow Street between Cora Street and University Avenue as crews worked to clear the roadway.

The crash remains under investigation.
