SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) – Some people turned on police at the scene of a fight that broke out Sunday afternoon in a Shreveport neighborhood, authorities say.

Officers quickly gained control of the situation, and now three people face criminal charges, Officer Christina Curtis said.

Police turned out in masses to the scene of the Mother’s Day dispute in the 2500 block of Devaughn Street.

The disturbance between Portland and Virginia avenues was reported at 4:46 p.m., Caddo 911 dispatch records show.

Police had as many as 49 units on the scene. That has since fallen to two dozen.

The Police Department received a call earlier about a female refusing to leave a residence in the 2500 block of Devaughn, Curtis said.

The female still was refusing to leave when the fight broke out.

There have been no reports of injuries, Curtis said.

Dispatch records show the Fire Department sent two units to a medical emergency at the same location at 5:08 p.m.

There’s no immediate word on whether anyone was taken to a hospital.
