BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) – One of five people suspected of stripping a man, duct taping him, and stealing his money is now in police custody.
Court documents state Javier Simmons, 23, of Baton Rouge, was arrested Wednesday.
According to the probable cause report, the victim was lured into a home on August 1 by a man he identified as Byron Harriel.
The report stated that once the victim was in the home, he was stripped naked, duct taped, and his wallet containing a little more than $100 was taken by five armed gunmen.
The PC added the victim was eventually able to escape and identified Harriel and Simmons as two of the five people who held him against his will and took his money.
Harriel remains on the loose. Police have not yet released a picture or description of him.
Investigators said they found video on Simmons’ cellphone showing the victim’s hands and mouth duct taped.
Simmons was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of armed robbery with a firearm and false imprisonment.
Bond has not been set.
