OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY)-  The director of the St. Landry Parish Animal Control & Rescue has resigned.

Stacey McKnight announced her resignation via Facebook:

She had held the role as director since 2015. McKnight steps down as a controversial seizure of horses loose from private property was recently reported by another local media outlet.

The property owner said they were forced to pay $1400 to get the horses back from the parish facility.

We will update this story as new information becomes available.
