Retired State Fire Marshal K-9 officer passes away


Retired Louisiana State Fire Marshal K-9 officer, Daisy passed away today following the discovery of a cancerous tumor.

State Fire Marshals say Daisy joined the State Fire Marshals in 2009; she was one of only two K-9 teams at the time.

She served in the Lafayette, Lake Charles and Alexandria areas, with her handler Lt. Keith Reed.

The two were awarded K-9 team of the year in 2017 days before Daisy retired.

Daisy was certified as an accelerant detection K-9 through the Maine State Police and Maine Specialty Dogs program. 

“We will always be appreciative of K-9 Daisy for her service to the state of Louisiana,” said State Fire Marshal Chief H. “Butch” Browning.
