BATON ROUGE, La. (WWL) President Barack Obama met with the family of injured Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Deputy Nick Tullier during his trip to Baton Rouge on Tuesday.

According to a Facebook post from Nick Tullier’s father, James, the president introduced him to his personal physician, who will speak with Nick’s doctors to make sure he is getting the best possible care.

During their visit, Tullier told Obama that he is looking for the best rehabilitation center for his son.

“Met with President Obama today (Tues) at the Baton Rouge airport,” James Tullier said. “I handed him the same write-up that I gave to Vice-President Biden. It has our thoughts and needs. He only briefed it whereas Biden read every word. I told Obama that my present concern is looking for the best rehab center available that is best for Nick’s type of wounds. Obama brought in and introduced me to his personal physician telling him of my request. Obama’s doctor will talk with Nick’s doctors and then get back to me with their recommendations. Hopefully that works out.”

Nick Tullier was wounded in the July 17 attack on law enforcement in Baton Rouge.

According to officials, Tullier was shot in the head and the stomach. He has remained in the hospital since the attack, which killed three officers and wounded two others.
