LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – For more than a decade James Anderson lived on the streets of downtown Little Rock.

With no money, no identification, and no way to reach his family he was slowly losing hope.

“My dad and I thought he was dead,” says Holly Anderson, a nurse in Illinois and niece of James.

It wasn’t until Jodi and his wife Dawn Gieber, took the time to listen to James’ situation and drove him more than 600 miles to his family in Illinois. Click here for orginial report

“Dawn had called me and explained to me that she was with my brother, explains Holly. “When I got that call it was just miraculous. There’s no words.”

In a FaceTime interview with Holly, she explained how grateful her family is for the Arkansas couple and the safe return of their loved one. She also says that her uncle James is now living between his two sisters’ homes.

“We are just all so blessed to have him back,” says Holly.

Holly says they are taking it day by day since James might have some gastric issues and complications from a gunshot wound he received while being homeless.

“But what the main thing is – is his health,” explains Holly. “He was so skinny when he arrived and we really need to focus on getting him the best nutrition possible.”

The family has already restored James’ identifications and are now getting him proper medical and dental treatment. James is anxious to get back to being healthy and finding himself a job, she says.

“This experience has been a lot for him and he would rather stay out of the spotlight,” Holly says. “I can’t imagine what it must have been like, but I respect that he wants to have a private life.”

However, Holly says she and her family are extremely grateful for everyone’s support and kindness.

“We are just trying to get back in his life,” explains Holly. “He’s got goals. He wants to definitely get back to normal society.”
