A convicted felon who police say tossed multiple guns while running away from police faces additional charges including simple burglary, trespassing, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and one count theft.

The foot chase happened shortly after 4 a.m. Tuesday when Broussard Police responded to a report of a suspicious person looking over a fence.

As officers were in the area looking for him, reports of several vehicle burglaries starting coming in and officers observed the suspect matching the description of the suspicious person and approached him.

Police say as they approached the suspect,  he fled on foot throwing firearms that were later identified as being stolen from vehicles in the area.

When captured, police said officers began to recover multiple stolen items.

Alfred was on parole for multiple vehicle burglaries that he was convicted on earlier in the year, as well as a prior charge of attempting to disarm a police officer and resisting arrest by violence, police said.

He was also arrested for 2nd degree murder in reference to a shooting death at Brown Park in 2017, police said.
