Major flood event could develop near Red River at Shreveport- Bossier City

Residents near the Red River at Shreveport- Bossier City are being urged to closely monitor the weather through the first week of June.

A major flood event could develop during this Memorial Day weekend through the first week of June. They are also being asked to move their livestock to higher ground.

Around 25 years ago, the river over flowed its banks causing the rescue of livestock by helicopter and damaging land on both sides of the river.
