An escapee from Louisiana was captured in Memphis as police say he was trying to retrieve money from a Western Union.

37-year-old Jimmy Gioele was being held on several charges, including burglary and drugs, when he escaped Saturday morning from a prison in West Baton Rouge Parrish.

About 5:30 p.m. Monday, Memphis Police officers responded to a suspicious person call at the Walmart in the 5200 block of Elvis Presley Blvd. They arrested Gioele as they say he was trying to pick up a money order from the Western Union inside the store.

Officers found the suspect’s truck outside, which they say came back as stolen from Baton Rouge. They say Gioele was seen on surveillance video getting out of the truck, and the keys were in his pocket when he was arrested. Inside the truck, officers found several different types of bullets, which were taken into evidence.

Gioele is expected to be extradited back to Louisiana, where he’ll face escape charges in addition to the original charges.
