  • Mayor-President Joel Robideaux wants to pull more money out of the library’s surplus budget for roads and drainage. He feels too much money is being spent on the newly built West Regional Library.
  • The city of Abbeville passed a new half-cent sales tax during Saturday’s election. It will be a $500 a month pay raise for police officers and firefighters along with a $2 pay raise for all municipal employees.
  • Eunice police and fire employees will also soon be getting a pay raise now that a sales tax was approved. The new sales tax will give them a gross total of about $400 more per month.
  • A St. Mary Parish councilman was arrested for a third time in less than a year. He faces stalking and several drug charges.
  • A Baton Rouge father has been charged for the attempted murder of his one year old son. The father’s girlfriend was also charged for drugs and firearm possession.
  • The suspect wanted in a deadly police shooting in Mississippi is now in custody. The killing happened on Sunday. The suspect was found walking down a street on Monday.
  • An Amber alert is still in place for 4 year old Maleah Davis. The Houston girl was allegedly kidnapped on Friday evening while she was with her stepfather.
  • President Trump will be visiting two cities in Louisiana next week. His first stop is Sempra Energy’s Cameron LNG export facility in Cameron Parish, then he will make a stop in New Orleans for a fundraising event.
