UPDATE: Police arrest suspect after Friday evening high speed chase

LAFAYETTE (LA) (KLFY) - 28-year-old Patrick Neil Comeaux of Lafayette, was arrested for multiple charges including Simple Burglary after Lafayette Police responded to a call Friday December 7th.

The vehicle burglary took place at the 200 block of Meadow Farm Rd. Patrick Neil Comeaux fled the parking lot as officers arrived.

Police say, the vehicle Comeaux was driving, was recently reported stolen. A traffic stop was initiated and the suspect began fleeing at a high rate of speed as officers pursued.

Officers located the suspects vehicle entering an apartment complex in the 1000 block of Robley Drive.

Comeaux refused to stop and accelerated at a high rate of speed in the direction of a police vehicle. One Police Officer discharged his firearm in the direction of the suspect vehicle in effort to prevent the assault.

Police said Comeaux continued fleeing and accelerated in the direction of another police vehicle striking that vehicle head on. A foot pursuit transpired and the suspect was later apprehended by officers and placed under arrest. The suspect was not struck by gunfire, but suffered minor injuries due to the vehicle accident.

Officials say, the Police Officer involved has been placed on Administrative Leave with pay.

The investigation remains on-going and will continue to be investigated by the Lafayette Police Department.
