A 17 year old male has been arrested in connection with a threat made at Rayne High School, Police Chief Carroll Stelly said.
An investigation began Monday after students notified police that they heard 17 year old Wesley David make threatening remarks in their presence.
The alarm set off by the reports caused Rayne Police Chief Carroll Stelly to send officers to Rayne High School Tuesday to search for any weapons or other device that may have been planted in the buildings.
Chief Stelly announced late Tuesday that upon the completion of an investigation, detectives submitted an arrest warrant application to Commissioner Thomas Fredericks accusing Wesley Lane David of one count of TERRORIZING.
Stelly said David had voluntarily submitted to supervision at the Rayne Police Department until the investigation was complete and is currently in the process of being booked into the Acadia Parish Jail.
Chief Stelly added that he will maintain officer presence at Rayne High School Wednesday and is highly confident the school is safe for students.
