Students, faculty, staff and members of the community gathered Sunday at Magnolia Park to remember the two St. Martinville High School juniors and a parent who were killed in a crash Friday on Highway 96 and Capritto 40 Arpent Road in St. Martin Parish.
The crash claimed the lives of 18-year-old Kenneth J. Eaglin II, 18-year-old Dejanee Olivier, and, 37- year-old Latricia L. Savoy, all of St. Martinville, according to State Police spokesperson Brooks David.
Police say Eaglin was behind the wheel of a Chevy Malibu heading east on LA 96 when for unknown reasons, his vehicle crossed the centerline into the westbound lane and struck an SUV driven by Savoy.
The three victims died at the scene.
A 16 year old passenger inside Eaglin’s vehicle received critical injuries. Two people, a 17 and 7 year old, inside Savoy’s vehicle also received critical injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
