St. Martin Parish School Board attempting to avoid lawsuit from former superintendent

Local

It was only last Wednesday that the St. Martin Parish School Board terminated Superintendent Dr. Lottie Beebe in a six to four vote during a board meeting.

Superintendent Dr. Lottie Beebe’s contract was up for discussion and action by the St. Martin Parish School Board during last week’s meeting. The meeting concluded after board members voted to terminate her contract.

Today, the board met again in executive session about the possibility of a lawsuit brought by Dr. Beebe in regards to her termination.

During the executive session, it was decided that the board and Beebe would try to resolve her termination without a lawsuit.

“You know, some people would rather fight… But I think the cooler heads prevailed and said, look, it’s worth trying before we get to the fight,” said Lane Roy, Beebe’s lawyer. He adds that he’s expecting a solution by the end of the week.

After the meeting, News 10 tried to speak with several school board members on-camera, but they declined to comment.
