St. Landry Parish schools hold rally to begin school year

St. Landry Parish schools participated in the 2nd Annual Convocation to get ready for the school year today.

“I want to be able to hear all those schools out there,” said St. Landry Parish Schools Superintendent Patrick Jenkins.

That would not be an issue for the Superintendent.

Teachers and faculty brought the energy from all over St. Landry Parish schools to Opelousas Senior High School.

Once the pep rally portion of the day was complete, they transitioned into guest speakers  but that basically turned into a pep rally itself.

The presentation included the teachers and principals of the year as well as honoring two school board members who served on the board for decades as they announced their retirement.

If there was any advice to bring to the staffs, it would be to show off the work they do on a daily basis.

“I know y’all are doing great things, take a moment…yeah it takes a little bit more time out of your schedule but let the community know what’s going on,” said one speaker.

As for tomorrow’s message to students and the ongoing theme of the year, that was evident in these words.

“What do you want to grow and have them do in life and my God, I know you’re inspiring them.”
