LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) Brian Pope, who has been removed from his seat as Lafayette City Marshal following a conviction of four felony counts, now faces trial for seven counts of malfeasance in office.

His trial is set for Oct. 23.

In this case, Pope is accused of taking public funds “without legal authority” between January and July of this year.

Funds alleged to be unlawfully taken amount up almost $13,500.

Pope was indicted on all seven counts on Sept. 12.

Pope’s attorneys still plan to appeal his Oct. 3 conviction of perjury and malfeasance in office
