Scott PD applauds school resource officer who sprung into action after shots fired near campus


SCOTT, La. (KLFY)- The Scott Police Department is applauding the work of a Westside Elementary resource officer who jumped into action when shots were near the school campus

At about 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 4, gun shots were fired less than 100 yard from where students were getting of busses, authorities said. 

In under two minutes, Officer Joseph Celestine immediately locked down the entire campus and led students, school faculty and bus drivers from the area.

School Police Chief Chad Leger said Celestine, a 15-year law enforcement veteran, than assisted in the investigation and arrest of the shooting suspect.
