Port Barre PD is looking for new homes for lost pets unable to be reunited with owners

The Port Barre Police Department said it tries to reunite pets with their families when they become lost.

“Sadly sometimes no one comes for them or they never had a loving home in their whole life,” the department said in a Facebook post announcing dogs available for adoption.

“It is our desire to help all animals find their fur-ever home. Please take a look at the dogs we have available for adoption,” the department said.

Those interested in adopting must pass a PBPD home inspection and is required to obtain a prepaid shot record.

The dog must be returned to the police department if for some reason it is not a good fit for the new owner.

St Landry Animal Control currently has a Fix My Pit program that is offered free to the public. Please call (337) 948-6184 for further information.
