LAFAYETTE, La.(The Advertiser)- The Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center’s newest acquisition took nine months and most seem overjoyed with the result.
“It was kind of like having a baby,” said Christine Istre, director of regulation and patient safety.
Istre has worked with Women’s & Children’s Hospital for the past 15 years. On Friday, the hospital began officially operating as part of Our Lady of Lourdes, which entered a deal to purchase the hospital last summer.
“It was exciting Friday to watch a beautiful thing unfold,” Istre said.
Four days into the change, Bryan Lee, chief executive officer of Our Lady of Lourdes, is calling the company “one, big happy family.”
The acquisition allows for a continuum of care from prebirth onward, for children, women and men throughout the health system.
“We can take care of one, the family or all,” Lee said.
“How exciting it is for us to have a combination of two amazing organizations,” said Trevis Badeaux, marketing manager. He has worked for Women’s & Children’s for the past 11 years.
Officials have not released the purchase price.
