The Opportunity Machine Innovation Conference will kick off Thursday at the LITE Center.
This event will bring entrepreneurs, startup founders and small business owners from across the state together to kick off National Entrepreneur Month.
“We’ll have workshops for developers, business models and also very successful business owners,” said Dustin Ortego, director of the Opportunity Machine.
Tom Cox founded Golfballs.com 23 years ago. His company specializes in personalized golf equipment as well as accessories.
He said he would have loved to have had an event like the OMIC to attend when he was trying to get his business up and running.
“When I started I had to put everything together by myself to get my business up and running,” Cox said.
This year, the OM Innovation Conference has expended from an exposition-style event to a three-day conference, due in part to a consistent increase in entrepreneur activity in the area.
“It stems from an oil and gas mentality. As in, I don’t have this piece, so I have to find a way to make it work,” Ortego said.
Folk here have the tools to create a great entrepreneurial economy, Cox added.
