The Lafayette Public Library Board of Control held an open meeting Monday.

Many people shared opinions about the controversial drag queen story time event.

Linda Lancols: “But this is a dangerous lifestyle people die from this lifestyle why would our public dollars go to promote such a dangerous lifestyle in a public location it’s just not appropiate.”

Nicholas Charming and Xavier Fontenot:
“Very Very for very supportive of it, I think it’s a great thing to expose children to tolerance to show that everybody is different and that can be fun.”

This comes after a petition from an organization called Citizens for a new Louisiana’ reached nearly 1600 signatures – urging the council to take a stance after Mayor President Joel Robideaux said LCG would move to cancel the event.

The council will vote tomorrow (Tuesday) night to either support or cancel the event.
