A local man was cited and released on multiple criminal and civil traffic charges following reports of a hit-and-run crash Sunday, April 28, behind the Children’s Museum in downtown Lafayette.

Police say 26 year old Zachery Kynard of Lafayette was cited for hit and run, disobeying a police officer, no insurance, reckless operation, operating a vehicle with a suspended license, careless operation and disobeying a stop sign.

Public Information Officer Karl Ratcliff said Kynard was behind the wheel of an older model SUV that drove through the crowd attending Festival International.

Police initially said a pedestrian was struck.  Later, they announced that no injuries were reported.

One person reported to KLFY that she was struck by the driver who then fled.  She said she was treated at the scene.
