LIFTED: Grand Coteau's water advisory rescinded

GRAND COTEAU, La. (KLFY) - UPDATE: The town of Grand Coteau is no longer under advisory.

ORIGINAL: Grant Coteau residents dealt with an afternoon without water.
However, according to Grand Coteau Alderwoman Annette Charles at 9:55 p.m., the water is now back ON.
"Please remind residents to run water to flush out pipes and we are under a boil water advisory until furhter notice. Sorry for any inconveniences."

A main water line broke Friday.

"The main line on Lloyd Lewis Street burst," said Wilton Guidry, Chief of Police of Grand Coteau.
It was a messy situation in Grand Coteau...

"I was fixing to boil some crawfish and we have no water to boil them," said Kevin Bourque, a resident of the town.

The town has been out of water since Friday afternoon.

"No water can't eat. Gonna go buy jugs of water," said Marlon and Vanesssa Eaglin.

An old pipe burst burst causing the entire town of roughly 1020 residents to be without water for hours.
And town's utility department worked into the night.

"I called them I said we boiling crawfish, and we need water, and she said you going to have to go find water somewhere's else," said Bourque.

Over at the Grand Coteau Popeyes...

"Our first concern is safety and cleanliness for our customers. We have some water that's in the back, that's you know on store for us to wash our hands, and wash the things that we need," said Chrisy Donato, a Popeyes employee.

She says their signature chicken is okay because it was seasoned and marinated Thursday, but they still took precautions.

"Just making sure we don't sell things like the fountain drinks because of the concerns from the water. And anything that we have to like mix up or anything we're not doing that, just you know to keep if safe for the customer , and we just using what we have," said Donato.

As as for bourque and his crawfish dinner his family was desiring.

"I guess we'll just wait til tomorrow," he said.

"Our town workers working as hard as possible to get the water turned back on for the citizens," said Alderman Devin Thomas earlier.

Be sure to follow the town's social media pages for more updates.

A boil water advisory is currently in effect until further notice, until officials test the water to make sure its safe to drink.
