Scott Police arrested an 18-year-old Lafayette woman for allegedly kidnapping a 10-month-old boy.

On Monday, officers responded to the 1300 block of Westgate Road after a caller, identified as the child’s mother, said the suspect was visiting her home, “became distraught for an unknown reason, and left the residence with the infant.”

The mother was able to provide information describing the vehicle the suspect left in.

Investigating officers immediately notified surrounding agencies about the incident, Scott Police Chief Chad Leger said.

Officers with the Breaux Bridge Police Department were able to located the vehicle in the 500 block of Parkway Avenue.

Scott Police Officers met with Breaux Bridge Officers, arrested the suspect, identified as Vanessa Breaux, and reunited the infant with his parents.

Breaux was later booked in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center for simple kidnapping and is still awaiting bond.
