Family of late UL Lafayette student turns tragedy into triumph

Acadiana resident Carol Trosclair lost her son, David Trosclair, a UL Lafayette student.

It happened in 2010 when David, who was a 24-year-old Kinesiology major about to graduate at the top of his class did not show up for class.

Trosclair died on Aug. 31, 2010, apparently after accidentally taking a fatal mixture of prescription and cold medication.

Since that time, every year his mother Carol raises money in his honor for deserving UL Lafayette Kinesiology students.

On Saturday, that fundraiser campaign kicked off at Todd's Car wash on Johnston Street, where a $10 raffle tickets get you lots of free goodies, food and a car wash.

For the entire month of September, tickets are redeemable at Todd's Car Wash (both locations) for a FREE $25 Super Works Wash - OR - at Judice Inn (3134 Johnston St) for a FREE hamburger or cheeseburger. For the entire month of October, tickets are redeemable at Blaze Pizza (111 Meadow Farm Rd) for a FREE Build Your Own Pizza - OR - at Reve Coffee Roasters (both locations) for a FREE coffee or tea & huge homemade biscotti. Until November 13th when Kermit Duhon of Travel Machine pulls the winning ticket, tickets are redeemable at Roly Poly (1004 Coolidge Blvd) for a FREE 1/2 wrap - OR - at Great Harvest Bread Co. (854 Kaliste Saloom Rd) for a FREE loaf of bread of your choice.

Trosclair will continue to sell tickets through November where one lucky winner will be chosen for chance to win an all expense paid cruise from Kermit Duhon and Travel Machine.
