Business along Lafayette parade route prep for crowds

LAFAYETTE, La (KLFY) Agave Grill and Cantina on Bertrand DrIve is heavily affected during Mardi Gras season.

Not only do parades pass by less than a mile away, but the Mardi Gras Festival takes place right across the street.

Agave employee, Ben Hoffpauir, tells News 10 that they take special preparations for the occasion, “Usually, with the extra influx of people we staff up a little bit more, do a little bit of extra prep, get here a little earlier in the morning.”

And the restaurant is glad to help costumers celebrate with Mardi Gras promotions; despite the drink specials, Hoffpauir says they’ve seen a lower number of customers this year because of the rain.

As Mardi Gras season comes to a close and the weather starts clearing up, they’re hoping to see the usual traffic.

“We’d just like to invite everyone to join us on Mardi Gras, drink a couple of margaritas, and have a great time,” says Hoffpauir.
