2 arrested in Opelousas charged with weekend shooting

2 Opelousas men were arrested in connection with a shooting on Saturday.

Officers with the Opelousas Police Department  investigated an early afternoon shooting that occurred just before 6:00 PM on Saturday near the intersection of Academy and Laurent Street in Opelousas. Multiple shots were fired between two groups of shooters.  A vehicle in the area was struck by gunfire.  Investigators believe more than 20 rounds of gunfire was exchanged during this incident.

Investigators were able to obtain video surveillance in the area and spoke to several witnesses which ultimately led to the arrest.  During a search of one of the allege suspects’ vehicle, officers found several grams of crack cocaine. Several more arrest are expected in the ongoing investigation. 

Davaska Savoy

Davaska Savoy, 19, is charged with Attempted Second Degree Murder. 

Brandon Savoy, 25, is also charged with Attempted Second Degree Murder.
