13-year-old arrested in connection to shots fired in Opelousas Wednesday night

Opelousas Police have announced that a 13-year-old has been arrested in connection to a shooting incident in the area of South Street and Cane Street on Wednesday.

Police patrolling the area around 6:42 p.m. said they could hear shots fired.

“After a speedy assessment of the situation officers were able to identify the shooter, who was found to be a 13 year old.” police said.

The teen was booked and processed on the offenses of Illegal use of weapons and possession of a firearm by a juvenile.
