Lafayette School Board considers changing meeting days

More changes in how and when the Lafayette Parish School Board conducts its meetings could be coming down the line.

The board will decide Wednesday whether to change its meeting dates. Traditionally, the board has met the first and third Wednesday of the month. Now, a recommendation to move the meeting to the second Wednesday of the month is on the table.

The change was proposed during an Executive Committee meeting held May 21 and supported by new Superintendent Donald Aguillard.

Aguillard says the two-week gap for staff or board members to introduce a proposal and for the board to make a decision can be a hindrance to staff.

The board also could switch to a new meeting software management program called BoardDocs.
