A two vehicle crash resulted in a fatality on LA Hwy 1026 (Lockhart Rd.) east of LA Hwy 16 in Livingston Parish, according to State Police.

The crash took the life of one man, and seriously injured another.

It happened at approximately 11:30 p.m. Friday.

An initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as 54-year-old Kevin A. Walls of Aurora, IL was driving a truck eastbound on Lockhart Rd.

At the same time, 40-year-old Thomas Kent of Baker was driving westbound on Lockhart Rd. in a Chevrolet Silverado.

For unknown reasons, police say, the box truck crossed the centerline and struck the Chevrolet head-on.

Walls suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene by the Livingston Parish Coroner’s Office.

Kent suffered serious injuries, and was transported from the scene to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge.

Both drivers were restrained at the time of the crash, and impairment is not considered a factor for either.

This crash remains under investigation.
