EUNICE, La. (KLFY)- Barry Butler, 33, an inmate who escaped on Sept. 7 has been captured in Eunice.

Butler walked away from his work detail, the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

“Once it was learned that a trusty working at the departments service station left the grounds, the sheriff’s office along with area agencies began an extensive search,” the department said today.

The department worked leads from Eunice to Baton Rouge but “one very observant citizen” spotted Butler in the Eunice area and notified the sheriff’s office.

Deputies arrested him without incident.
