Officers with the Scott Police Department have arrested two teenagers in connection to a break-in at Scott Middle School.

Hailey Altman and Mallorie Soulier, both 17 and from Scott, were arrested after they broke into two classrooms and the school’s cafeteria.

Police were alerted to the break-in when the pair tripped an alarm as they broke into one of the classrooms. A witness was able to identify Altman and Soulier from school surveillance footage. Police then located and arrested them at a residence.

Employees called police back when they found the back glass door to the cafeteria and glass windows of another classroom broken, with lock pliers near the broken glass.

When asked why they broke into the school, they told police that they were “bored,” the press release said.

Both were booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on counts of simple burglary and criminal damage to property.
