LEAKESVILLE, Miss. (WKRG) – The Mississippi Department of Corrections is searching for inmate Michael Floy Wilson who escaped Thursday afternoon from the South Mississippi Correctional Institution in Leakesville.

According to MDOC, Wilson, #29893, was discovered missing at approximately 12:48 p.m. The institution has been placed on lockdown.

The George County Sheriff’s Office says Wilson was given a ride under false pretenses to the city of Lucedale. An update was given around 7:30 p.m. saying Wilson could be headed to D’Iberville.

Wilson, 47, is serving a life sentence from Harrison County for murder. He was sentenced September 2, 2015.

Wilson is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 160 pounds and has hazel color eyes.

Officials do not have reason to believe Wilson is armed, but he should be considered dangerous.

If you see Wilson or know of his whereabouts, contact the MDOC at 662-745-6611 or Crimestoppers at 601-355-8477 or contact your nearest law enforcement office.
