HOUMA, La. (KLFY) -- Thursday was the fourth day of public hearings conducted by the Coast Guard on details about the Seacor Power tragedy. Crewmembers aboard the first aircraft that attempted to rescue men from the capsized vessel shared why it was such a difficult job.

It was a heartbreaking testimony from two men who thought they could save the men clinging to the Seacor Power for safety, but ultimately none of the crew risked the waves when they lowered a lifeline to help.

Southwest Louisiana recovery slow, needs help after several major storms in past year

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KLFY) - It's been quite a year for southwest Louisiana, suffering through two major hurricanes, a winter storm, and serious flooding.

Despite the best efforts by Louisiana lawmakers, there's been no additional money sent down from Washington, D.C. for rebuilding.

Seacor Power disaster: Here’s a full timeline of events

(KLFY) -- Here is a timeline of events involving the sinking of the Seacor Power, the search for her crewmembers and the organizations who are continuing the search for those still missing.

The Seacor Power, a lift boat owned by Seacor Marine, capsizes several miles south of Port Fourchon, Louisiana with 19 crewmen on board. Six men are rescued the day of the incident, six died, and seven still remain missing to date. Those rescued have never been publicly identified.
