VERNON PARISH, LA (KPLC) –

The Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office is searching for a woman who allegedly abandoned her child, according to the Vernon Parish Sheriff Department’s Facebook page.

VPSD received a report of an abandoned male juvenile, the post says. After investigating, police found that Gail Bernard Odom, 44, of Leesville and her sister left the home and moved to another location.

VPSD says the juvenile had no prior notice of the move or where his mother was located. The juvenile claims he has not heard from his mother since May 24.

Odom allegedly did not make any arrangements to find her child, take care of her child, and hasn’t tried to contact the child either. There is an active warrant out for Odom.

Here is the Facebook post:

Odom is facing criminal neglect of family child desertion. Anyone with information on her whereabouts should contact VPSD at 337-238-1311 or Crime Stoppers at 337-239-2233.

The juvenile is currently staying with a friend’s parent.
