NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard suspended its search for a person in the water near South Pass, Louisiana, Friday.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a report at 8:33 a.m. Wednesday from a good Samaritan that two men were found on the beach at South Pass after their vessel capsized. A survivor reported that, Donald Tabb, an 85-year-old male was still missing.
Coast Guard Sector New Orleans suspended the search at 3:36 p.m. Crews searched 2,417 square nautical miles.
Involved in the search were:
– Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin Helicopter aircrew
– Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircrew
– Coast Guard Station Venice 45-foot Response Boat-Medium boat crew
– Coast Guard Cutter Sailfish crew
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
