NEW IBERIA, La. (KLFY) – A New Iberia woman has been accused of murder for the death of a 4-month-old infant earlier this year, according to the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Louis Ackal said Tracey Rankin, who is the girlfriend of the infant’s grandfather, was babysitting when the child died on February 8, 2016.

Rankin has been charged with first-degree murder

Ackal added that his department’s investigation included “numerous interviews and an autopsy that was completed by the Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Forensic Center.”

Bond for Rankin has been set at $750,000.
