The Louisiana Lottery has identified the Acadiana area man who recently won $1 million in a Mega Millions drawing.
Vince Dorsey of Loreauville matched all five white balls in the Dec. 4 drawing on a ticket he had purchased at the Corner Grocery and gas station on North Main Street in Loreauville.
“It just doesn’t seem real,” Dorsey said as he arrived at Lottery headquarters.
“Once I see the check, I’ll be alright,” he told employees as he anxiously awaited for his real check to be printed.
According to the Louisiana Lottery, the Loreauville resident learned only two days prior, that he won $1,000,000 during the Dec. 4 Mega Millions drawing!
Though he plays lottery games on occasion, Dorsey said he didn’t set out to buy a ticket for this particular drawing.
“I had stopped (at Corner Grocery) to put diesel in my truck,” he said.
When the receipt for the fuel didn’t print, Dorsey then went into the store.
“I just told them to give me two quick picks.” he said.
What a lucky accident!
Dorsey received $710,000 after state and federal taxes were withheld.
He said he plans to put his new cash towards savings and his daughter’s college tuition.
The winning numbers were 28,31,41,42,50, and mega ball was 4.
The total jackpot for the December 4 drawing was $208 million.
