ABBEVILLE, La. (KLFY)– An Abbeville man was arrested after a high-speed chase Thursday.

The driver was identified as Drake Richard Broussard, 25, of Abbeville, according to Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said, at approximately 4:30 p.m. Thursday, a vehicle was reported to be driving recklessly on Jacqulyn Road.

Police found the vehicle traveling north on South Airport, and after failing to make a traffic stop, they engaged in a high-speed chase with Broussard. Authorities pursued the vehicle until it went into a driveway and hit a utility pole.

Broussard exited the vehicle and went into a home, where he refused to come out, according to VPSO. After a short stand-off, Broussard came out the home and was arrested at 8:06 p.m.

Broussard was charged with aggravated flight from an officer. His bond has not been set. VPSO said additional charges may follow.
