ABBEVILLE, La. (KLFY) – The Abbeville Police Department (APD) is investigating a shooting that occurred late last night.
On Feb. 24, at 9:46 p.m., the Abbeville Police Department responded to multiple calls of shots fired near the Family Dollar Store on Veterans Memorial Drive. The caller said that a person was shot.
A member of Vermilion Parish Task Force also said over the radio that shots were fired at ZaZa’s Houka Lounge, in that same area in that Officers with Abbeville Police Department and Vermilion Task Force arrived to find a crowd of people yelling and screaming. People were attempting to help the gunshot victims, and cars leaving.
Abbeville Police took control of the scene and began documenting evidence, taking statements, and coordinating efforts of all agencies involved. The Vermilion Task Force assisted with crowd control, and crime scene security.
Abbeville General Hospital reported four gunshot victims arriving at the Emergency Room for their injuries. Because of the high volume of gunshots at the location, all area hospitals were also put on alert that they may receive injured victims from Abbeville.
Police are continuing the investigation into this shooting and are asking anyone with information to contact our office.
