Vehicle burgary suspects arrested in New Iberia after stolen pickup truck crashes

IBERIA PARISH, La. (KLFY)- At about 2 a.m. this morning, deputies attempted to stop a pickup truck on Dubois Road. The truck sped off and was found crashed four miles away on E. Pershing and Bank Street.

The passenger, identified as Quinndred Batiste, 19, was arrested at the scene of the crash.

The driver, 18-year-old Chris Anthony Rue Jr. fled on foot but was captured a short time later., the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies located several vehicles on L. Dubois Rd. which had been burglarized. Deputies suspect that there were possibly 20 vehicles that had been burglarized.

The pickup had been stolen from a home in New Iberia, deputies said.

Batiste was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail for principle to simple burglary.  Rue was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail for simple burglary, aggravated flight from and officer, possession of a stolen vehicle and aggravated criminal damage to property.
