UPDATE 2: Additional charges have been added today towards the suspect involved in the fatal hit & run that took the life of Princess Washington of Opelousas on May 11, 2019.
After further investigation the additional charges were made after factors indicated that the crash occurred due to Washington’s extreme negligence.
The charges include: negligent homicide, reckless operation of a vehicle, red light violation, no insurance, failure to wear a seatbelt.
Floydiece Washington is currently booked in the St. Landry Parish Jail.
UPDATE: Floydiece Washington turned herself into OPD, after a previous bond was revoked.
Floydiece Washington, 31, of Melville, La. is being booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail again on today after a prior bond was revoked on a unrelated case. Washington is scheduled to appear in court on Monday regarding the fatal hit & run accident.
ORIGINAL: A 16-year-old girl was killed in a hit-and-run crash late Saturday night in Opelousas, police said.
Police Chief Martin McClendon said the girl was a passenger in a vehicle at the intersection of Main and Church Streets around 10:52 p.m. when her vehicle was hit by car.
The driver of that car did not stop and fled the area, McClendon said.
The girl was pronounced dead at the scene.
She has been identified as Princess Washington of Opelousas.
Chief McClendon says Washington was a passenger in the vehicle with her 18-year-old brother; who survived the crash.
An active warrant for felony hit and run has been issued for Floydiece Washington (no relation to victim according to Chief McClendon) of Opelousas.
Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to contact 911 immediately, or call Opelousas Police.
