UPDATE: Suspect arrested in Lafayette hotel shooting


UPDATE: The suspect wanted in connection with the shooting death of a man at local hotel is now in custody, according to Lafayette Police.

27-year-old Nicholas Hebert of Lafayette was located Saturday through combined efforts of the U.S. Marshals Service Louisiana, the Violent Offenders Task Force and the LPD Special Investigations Unit, police said.

He was taken into custody on the active warrant for second degree murder, police said, and then transported to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. 

Additional charges included obstruction of justice and self-mutilation by a prisoner. 

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)- Lafayette Police has identified the suspect responsible for the homicide that occurred on January 3, 2018, at a local hotel in the 2100 block of the NW Evangeline Thruway.

Nicholas Hebert, 27, of Lafayette, has an active warrant for second degree murder.

 Lafayette Police say the victim, 48-year-old Frederick Richardson died Thursday night due to his injuries.

Hebert is considered armed and dangerous.
